Lake Inle, nestled in the Shan Hills of Myanmar, is a setting of almost mystical beauty, where culture and nature merge seamlessly. It is particularly renowned for the unusual technique of its fishermen, who balance an oar with one leg to navigate, leaving their hands free to cast their nets with great skill. Along the shores, houses are built on stilts and the local inhabitants maintain their famous floating gardens, where they cultivate vegetables directly on the water’s surface. It is a place where time seems to flow differently, punctuated by the hum of long-tail boat engines and the mysticism of the pagodas that dot the landscape.
